The Old School is the house recording studio of Steropar Records. This is where all of the recordings are made for the variety of styles produced for Steropar’s output.
The name of the studio comes from the fact that the room did, indeed, used to be a school at various points in its life. The building dates back to near the start of the 20th century and has been, amongst other things, a temperance hall, a day care centre and a dance school. And there is an old school attitude to recording here along with a reverence towards the engineers and producers from eras gone by. Some of the instruments here at the studio are also distinctly old school!
The room, in its present incarnation, was finished towards the end of 2020 and has been in use as The Old School ever since. Work done here has been for TV (The Voice, Starstruck, Sing On, Richard Osman’s House Of Games), theatre (Calendar Girls, The Band, Charlie & Stan, The Play What I Wrote) and, of course, the Steropar recordings, as well as numerous sessions for various independant artists and shows.
