Edgar Jones

Steropar is excited to have the wonderful Edgar Jones as part of its family with a single and album available immediately!

Edgar Jones has been part of the Liverpool music scene for a number of years now. You may have seen him as a member of The Stairs. Or witnessed him with his band Free Peace supporting Oasis. You also could have heard his bass playing in the band of Paul Weller. Fans of his music range from rock music royalty such as Noel Gallagher and Johnny Marr to stars of the big and small screens like Martin Freeman and Daniel Radcliffe.

Edgar’s taste in music has always been rooted in the 1960s, whether it be psychadelic rock, garage, rare groove or records of more familiar and popular sounds. With his first outing for Steropar, we decided to go down the route of soul. Rare soul. Northern soul. Soulful-sounding pop. The many sides of soulful music. Expect references to Bobby Paris as well as Burt Bacharach. The Majestics and also Scott Walker.

"A cool new 45 - both sides winners!" - Richard Searling, original northern soul DJ

“If you told me this was a long-lost classic, I’d believe you!” - Craig Charles, BBC Radio 6 Music

"...wonderfully persuasive, full of period detail and bristling with dancefloor energy... a great soul album" - MOJO, 4-star review

"It’s a brilliant collision of northern soul, Bacharach melodies, a little bit of garage-pop and Edgar’s unmistakable voice. He’s never sounded better. It is without question his best album" - The New Cue
